African Day 2023 in Indonesia
Theme: The Acceleration of AFCFTA implementation.
The African continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA) is a trade agreement that aims to further the continent's economic integration by establishing a single market for products and services.
Africa Day is intended to celebrate and acknowledge the successes of the Organization of African Unity (OAU now AU) from its creation on May 25, 1963, in the fight against colonialism and apartheid. This year’s celebration will also help people reminisce about how far people have come since the formation of OAU. The rich history, strategic alliance and overall progress of Africa will surely be celebrated on Africa Day 2023. People are sure also to take this chance to map and discuss routes needed for the betterment of Africa.
The Africans in Indonesia joined in the celebration of the Africa day 2023 on the 29th may 2023. The dean of the African Ambassadors in Indonesia, Mr Abderahman Drissi Alami - Ambassador of Morocco to Indonesia. while delivering his keynote address said that the African Union (AU) has chosen "Acceleration of (AfCFTA) implementation" as it's theme for 2023. The AfCFTA (African Continental Free Trade Area) is an ambitious trade pact aimed at creating a single market for goods and services of almost 1.3 billion
people across Africa and deepening the economic integration of the continent.
The ambassador of the Nigeria to Indonesia Dr. Usman A. Ogah while briefing the press said that trade integration across Africa has long been limited by outdated infrastructure and differing regulations across dozens of markets. when fully implemented, the AfCFTA will be the world's biggest largest free trade area, with a combined gross domestic product of around $3.4 trillion.
The president of Nigerian Community In Indonesia (NCII) High Chief Felix E. Okolie (Omeogo) also said that the AfCFTA is projected not only to lead to job creation, poverty alleviation, improved welfare and sustainable development but also to ensure inclussivity for women and youth, development of small and medium enterprise (SMEs) and overall industrialization of the continent. he also seek for the collaboration and peaceful cooperation of the host country.
The event were attended by the different Ambassadors of African nations to Indonesia and the diplomatic corps, the representatives of the Indonesian government and the international communities of African decent. The executives members of Nigerian communities were also present. Mr. Felix Ituoye, Mr. Fin Opara, Chief Nicholas Amanchukwu, Mr. Dan Nwaizugbo and MR. Chinedu Onwubuche.

TRADE AND INVESTMENT SUMMIT 2023
NIGERIANS COMMUNITY IN INDONESIA ATTENDS THE 2023 NIGERIA-INDONESIA TRADE AND INVESTMENT SUMMIT TAGGED REDISCOVERING BUSINESS POTENTIAL IN NIGERIA & INDONESIA
The event which took place at Park Hyatt Hotel Jakarta Indonesia on the 23rd of October gathered distinguished participants from all across the globe. The summit was a great gathering fostered on deliberation, engagements and proffering solutions amongst stakeholders from Nigeria and Indonesia and defines a pathway to creating a mutually beneficial and sustainable bilateral relationship through trade and investment.
The keynote speaker, His Excellency Dr. Peter N. Mbah, the executive governor of Enugu state reassure the business community the readiness of Enugu state in welcoming investors and his goal of increasing the GDP of the state from its present $4.4 billion to $30 billion. Indonesia stakeholders are interested in investing in Enugu’s energy and mining sectors, as well as its agriculture and tourism industries.
The president of Nigerian community in Indonesia Chief Felix E. Okolie (OMEOGO) also assured the stakeholders and the business community of providing enabling environment, adding that his administration will partner with the Nigerian Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry alongside the embassy of Nigeria to Indonesia in business collaboration and in picking special economic interest for both countries.
The Ambassador of Nigeria to Indonesia his Excellency Amb. Usman Ari Ogah was also present to reiterate his willingness to assist the business community in effecting a formidable business activity.
The president of Nigerian Indonesian Chamber of Commerce Mr. Ishmael A. Balogun who was at the center of it all as the organizer was apt and well coordinated.
Major stakeholders in the Nigerian Indonesian business community were around: Mr. Felix Itoye the VP NCII, Prince Bonaventure Azubuike Ebo CEO Authentic Café, Daniel Chekwube Nwaizugbo CEO of Danny Apex global.

OFFICIAL HANDOVER AND INAUGURATION OF THE NIGERIAN COMMUNITY IN INDONESIA (NCII)
The official handover and inauguration of the newly elected executives of the NIGERIAN COMMUNITY IN INDONESIA kick started the four year tenure ship of their administration as opined in the constitution of the NCII (Article 5, Section 1) on the 24th day of September 2022.
The past outgoing president Elder Joseph Kalu and members of his administration were present to officially hand over the baton to the OMEOGO and his executives. In his words, he appreciated the members of his executives for all their efforts although their time in helms of affair at the executive level of the NCII. He also reiterate the thanks to the Nigerian people for their support especially those who were committed and pledged to continue to be part of the community and will give every support to the incoming executives to the best of his ability.
The Ambassador who administered the oath of office to the newly elected officials was represented by Mr Yilkes.And he charged the new executives to do their best and know the needs of the Nigerians in Indonesia and as well do their best to bring solutions. He pleaded with the people of the community to give their whole support to the administration so that they can function effectively.
The newly elected chairman Chief OMEOGO gave his inauguration speech. In his words, he pledged to work with everybody and run an all inclusive government. He also appealed to those where were unsuccessful at the last election not to feel bad and get involved in the Nigerian project because the security, peace, progress and economic development of all Nigerians here is everyone’s concern. He went further to solicit for maximum support from the community to enable him function very well. He went further to appreciate the efforts of his predecessors and pledged to do more in giving Nigerians a new face lift here in Indonesia.And finally he appreciated the masses that came out en mass to vote for him and promised that he will not disappoint them.
